What do you currently do for work and how did you get started?
I am a dog trainer and educator. I got my start fostering dogs with my partner and volunteering with local rescues. Once I discovered the large percentage of people struggling with their dogs and the lack of training support, I went to work developing techniques and strategies that would help owners and dogs live their best lives. I’m really happy to be where I’m at now, and am grateful for the supportive community we’ve built.
What do you love about the work you're doing?
I love that I can help people, and I love that I’m able to connect with people through animals. The world is stressful and crazy enough, so if I can offer guidance that’s going to make living with a dog more enjoyable, I’m all for it.
What are some of your career goals?
I’d love to continue building a dog training community and supporting those who need it. I'm also working to continue expanding my reach as well as my team. And Catch is going to be there at every moment, making sure I’m always saving for the future!
Speaking of Catch, how is Catch helping you to meet those goals?
Catch has literally been a lifesaver when it comes to saving for taxes, insurance and those times when I need to make business investments. Making the leap to self employment was pretty daunting at first, but Catch has allowed me to breathe easier when it comes to staying financially stable and prepared. I’m now able to set aside money and focus more on building my brand.
What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone just starting out in the dog training and education field?
I'd say: be a sponge. Learn and listen all you can, and bug the heck out of people you admire. Finding supportive mentors can really help beginners learn the ropes and what it takes to build a career you’re passionate about.
