The One Hand Wonder Man

I never really had a plan on where I wanted to take my business, I just knew that I loved working remote and on my own terms, so I just jumped ship and figured out how to stay afloat!

In addition to being a fantastic Catch user, Max is also a contributing writer to the Catch blog. We spoke with Max to learn more about the other work he does and what sort of advice he has for people embarking on their own freelance career.‍

Tell us a bit about the work you do and how you got started.

I am a freelance Squarespace designer and advertising specialist. I started 4 years ago after working in the music industry for a few years, specializing in advertising and project management. A co-worker at the time came across Squarespace while building websites for our artists and I thought I could turn this into a business. I never really had a plan on where I wanted to take my business, I just knew that I loved working remote and on my own terms, so I just jumped ship and figured out how to stay afloat!‍

What do you love about the work you do?

I love getting to work with small teams and small businesses and really seeing the impact of my work. I also love having a close relationship with some of my clients where they can trust me on business and life advice and they trust that I have a network that stretches across America and the world.‍

What are some of your goals for the next 3-5 years?

In my personal life, my biggest goals are to get married and to buy a house. Professionally, my goals are pretty simple: I want to continue to work and grow in my industry and make an impact with my clients and community. ‍

What role does Catch play in you achieving your goals?

My good friend told me about Catch and I've been hooked since! I use it to automate my tax savings from each paycheck I receive and I also use it for my vacation savings as well. It helps me save by moving the money outside of my bank account so it is out of sight, out of mind. Now when taxes are due, I no longer have to scramble to put the money together, because it already is all set with Catch.‍

What's one piece of advice you'd give to someone starting out in your field?

If you don't ask, the answer is always no. Don't be afraid of reaching out to people you look up to or anyone who you want to connect with either to learn more or possibly collaborate on a project. I have made so many connections and landed a lot of my clients by just reaching out and connecting.
